Capacity, Speeds and Controls
This version of the Sunbeam Mixmaster is designed for use with two separate sizes of bowls. The larger of the two bowls has a 4 quart capacity, while the smaller bowl holds two quarts.
The 350 Watt motor drives twelve mixing speeds, plus the Burst of Power® feature. Speeds are controlled by a dial at the back of the mixer head.
There are 6 different controls on this stand mixer. The Burst of Power® button is found on the top handle. The mixer attachments eject button is found on the side of the handle. The speed dial and power light are found at the back of the mixing head.
On the back of the stand, we find the mixer release button, which allows the separation of the mixing head from the base of the machine. The locking head button appears on the side of the stand. Press this to lower the mixing head from its upright locked position.
Lastly, at the front of the mixer's base, you will find a lever with two settings. This sets the position of the turntable, with one setting to match each differently-sized bowl.
Using the Sunbeam MixMaster Classic
Each of the two beaters and dough hooks are designed differently to promote complete mixing. For example, the beater that works the outside of the bowl is rounded to match the curve of the bowl, while the beater that works the middle of the bowl has a flat bottom to pick up what's on the bottom of the bowl and properly incorporate it into the mix.
Once you select the size of bowl to use, simply twist and lock it into place in the turntable. Use the selector in front of the turntable to place the bowl in the proper position. This feature places the bowl in an offset position, which not only helps with mixing, but allows for plenty of room to use to add ingredients during mixing.
With the correct attachments in place and the mixing head lowered into the bowl, simply turn the dial to the speed desired. This machine has a 'soft-start' feature that will help to ease the mixer up to speed and avoid your ingredients from being tossed out of the bowl.
The On/Off light at the top of the dial also indicates which speed setting the mixer is using.
When in use, the turntable and bowl will spin.
The Sunbeam MixMaster Classic includes the mixer head and base, one two-quart bowl and one four-quart bowl, chrome beater set, whisk set, and dough hook set.
Cleaning and Storage
The stand mixer head, stand and turntable can all be easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Using the Mixer Release button on the back of the machine allows for the head to detach for thorough cleaning.
All mixing attachments and bowls are dishwasher safe.
For storage, the 2 quart bowl can be placed inside the 4 quart bowl, and then placed on the turntable. All attachments will fit within the two quart bowl.
